SAM MECCANICA Srl, a company based in Rovereto sulla Secchia (in the province of Modena), has been manufacturing high-performance custom machines for hot foil stamping, screen printing, die-cutting of self-adhesive labels on reels, and hologram and magnetic stripe transfer - for more than 30 years. The proven and high quality of its machines not only comes from its many years of experience in the printing field, but also from the right choice of components from which the machines themselves are built.
Ever Elettronica successfully supports the Modena-based company by supplying it with automation solutions complete with state-of-the-art control electronics and motors, thus contributing decisively to the excellent production results. This is an extremely fruitful and positive collaboration between the two companies, of which we are left with the testimony of Mr. Demis Bertoni, partner-owner of the Rovereto sulla Secchia-based company.
Mr. Bertoni, how did you get to know Ever Elettronica?
We had already had contact with Ever Elettronica in the past, but until then we had never seriously considered replacing the systems we were using. In fact, for several years we had been using a different architecture that consisted of a custom motion control board and from clock&direction drivers from an Italian competitor, with not excellent but all in all satisfactory performance. But then, we had the need to improve performance, to keep production costs down, and to have a single point of contact. It was then that we turned, foresightedly, to Ever Elettronica, which, as expected, immediately proved willing to follow us along the evolutionary path of our machines with professionalism and attention to our specific needs.
What type of issues have you solved thanks to Ever Electronics? In what kind of way?
The use of Ever Elettronica systems with stepper motors allowed us to solve torque and positioning problems, concretely improving the quality of our product. Thanks to Ever Elettronica's touch-screen control panels, at first glance the machine looks more modern and "tidy"; in fact, the HMI panels not only allowed us to save a lot of components, but also allowed us to eliminate a lot of wiring with consequent savings in assembly time. Energy efficiency has been satisfactorily achieved through the use of the high-efficiency "HE" series motors, built to reduce energy consumption with higher torque values than standard stepper motors. SW1 series drives with integrated PLC are also used: these drives are extremely high-performance, highly versatile and fully programmable via the eePLC programming environment. The solution as a whole of components has enabled, data in hand, a 30% increase in machine performance and an increase in positioning accuracy that is around ~0.15mm.
